For years, the desi cow nourishes us with her milk, enriches our soil, sustains our farmers, and blesses our homes with peace and purity. But when her strength fades and her milk slows, she is too often abandoned, injured, or pushed toward slaughter. At Manpho Foundation, we refuse to let her suffer. We rescue, rehabilitate, and shelter vulnerable cows, offering them the love, protection, and dignity they deserve.
Gaupatra functions on a regenerative, humane, and economically sustainable ecosystem that connects Gaushalas, farmers, consumers, and nature into one unified cycle.
Our approach emphasizes:
• Scientific nutrition + traditional wisdom
• Zero-waste, circular agriculture
• Livelihood generation through Panchagavya entrepreneurship
• Transparency in every process—from fodder supply to product sales
• Deep cultural reverence for cows as nurturers of rural life
By integrating modern systems with Bharatiya parampara, Gaupatra ensures that every cow is cared for, every farmer empowered, and every Gaushala strengthened.
Across India, thousands of Gaushalas face mounting financial challenges in maintaining the health, nutrition, and dignity of cows—especially non-milking and aged ones. These sacred animals, deeply woven into India's cultural and spiritual fabric, often suffer from neglect due to lack of resources. Manpho Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Manpho Group, has always been committed to causes that promote sustainability, compassion, and cultural preservation. Gau Patra is our answer to this crisis—a transformative initiative designed to protect India's sacred cows while creating a circular model of sustainability.
Manpho Foundation will provide balanced, high-nutrition fodder to Gaushalas free of cost. The fodder will be scientifically formulated for optimum cow health and milk production, with regular supply schedules ensuring consistent nourishment.
This initiative will especially support underfunded rural Gaushalas struggling to meet feed costs, creating immediate impact where it's needed most.
The Gaupatra will supply fodder and collect dung and urine from goshalas and process these into value-added products and market them under our sister partner, the Gau Pavithra brand. The profits from Gau pavithra will be used for Gau patra initiatives.
Converting cow dung into premium organic fertilizers that enrich soil health and support chemical-free farming practices
Creating eco-friendly floor cleaners and soaps from cow urine and dung, offering sustainable alternatives to chemical products.
Developing traditional Panchagavya-based health products and incense, rooted in ancient Indian wellness wisdom
Cow dung and urine serve as natural fertilizers and soil enhancers to grow nutritious fodder. The fodder farms will operate near or within Gaushalas to ensure a closed-loop ecosystem, reducing dependency on external resources and ensuring 100% organic feeding cycles. This regenerative approach improves soil health year after year while maintaining the highest nutritional standards for the animals.
Drastically reduced input costs. Superior fodder quality and nutrition. Complete independence from chemical fertilizers. Model of true regenerative agriculture. Environmental restoration through organic practices
Manpho Foundation will identify and train farmers who own cows, transforming them into rural entrepreneurs. Our comprehensive training program covers production and marketing of Panchagavya-based products, efficient cow management for better milk yield, maintenance of hygienic and humane shelters, and access to financial literacy and market linkages. Comprehensive skill development, Ongoing support and guidance.
Gau Patra introduces a structured calf adoption program, enabling individuals and organizations to "adopt" a calf and contribute towards its care and upbringing.
Adopters receive regular updates, photos, and detailed reports on their calf's wellbeing, and can participate in Gaushala visits and annual events honoring their contributions.
Adoption funds are utilized directly for calf nutrition, shelter maintenance, and healthcare—ensuring transparency and impact.
This creates both emotional and financial engagement from donors while strengthening Gaushala support networks.
"One of Gau Patra's core principles is to ensure dignity in every stage of a cow's life—from birth to natural passing"
When cows fall ill or pass away, Gau patra ensures respectful handling of remains in accordance with traditional Indian practices, with zero slaughterhouse dependency. We explore indigenous, eco-friendly uses while maintaining complete sanctity. Organic compost for memorial gardens. Tree plantation programs in memory. Ritual practices honoring the animal's life
